CHILDREN'S BALLET CLASSES

Students are taught the The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Syllabus. It is one of the world's leading dance examination boards. Formed in 1904, today it is a registered educational charity which covers the full spectrum of dance throughout the world.

CONTEMPORARY
& LYRICAL CLASSES

At RBS&PA holds classes from the age of 6 years to 18 years. An Expressive, Fun and Creative class, a great way to make friends whilst improving your Dance technique. Prepare yourself for GCSE Dance, A Level/BTEC Dance and Vocational/University training!

  • Contemporary will explore floor work, the use of gravity and work with shapes and lines of the body. 

  • Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions the choreographer feels from the lyrics in the chosen song. Focusing  on the  expression of strong emotion, the style concentrates more on the indivdual approach and expressiveness than the precision of the dancer's movements. Created from a fusion of Contemporary, modern, ballet and Jazz dance technique.

At the end of every term the students work to celebrate their progression over the year, by putiing on a stage show.

Uniform: Black loose fitted clothing or something you feel comfortable to move in (there will be floor work so please take this into consideration). Bare feet, foot thongs or black ballet shoes if they do not slip on the floor.

Thursdays Juniors  6.30pm - 7.15pm & Seniors 7.15pm - 8.15pm in the main hall

MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES

At RBS&PA holds classes from the age of 4 years to 18 years.

 

  • Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting, and dance. 

  • Musical theatre uses a variety of dance styles including jazz, and modern.  

Fun & Friendly musical theatre classes for boys and girls of all abilities. Give your child the gift of rhythm, co-ordination and confidence! 

At the end of every term the students work to celebrate their progression over the year, by putting on a stage show.

 

Uniform: Black Jazz shoes, black leotard and tights. Available at RBS&PA Dancewear shop.

For the mums and dads that want to stay active as well, we have two classes for you on a Thursday. We have a Dancercise class and an adult tap class!

Thursdays Juniors 5.45pm - 6.30pm & Seniors 6.30pm - 7.15pm in the main hall

CHEERLEADING
CLASSES

For ages 6 - 18 years a fun and exciting Cheerleading Class with a performance opportunity at the end of term. 

Boy and girls of all abilities welcome! In this class the children will learn low level stunts, fun dance routines, and tumbling in a friendly environment. 

At the end of every term the students work to celebrate their progression over the year, by holding a performance for parents and family members.

LIMBERING & TECHNIQUE

Our Limbering and technique class is for those who want to be more supple, stronger, toned, flexible and have more core strength. Whatever you specialise in, this class can help you improve your basic techniques, even non dancers can benefit.

Technique and Stretches based on improving flexibilty and core strengh. Good flexibilty is extremely important for a dancer and the level of flexibility affects that individual's form, alignment, the ability to have clean lines, proper technique and it prevents injury. 

 

Free-work class to fun music but it achieves results. It’s a class to increase your stamina, flexibility and strength that is essential to those of you taking ballet classes to allow the student a chance to really shine and to support and enhance a dancer’s performance.

Saturdays 2.30pm - 3.00pm  in the Dance studio

COMMERCIAL/STREET DANCE & STRETCH CLASS

Our commercial/street dance & Stretch class is aimed at children aged 11yrs+ - A fun new class added to our 2018 timetable!

For girls and boys of all abilities this class will increase your stamina as you learn fun fast routines to popular music. Come and dance like you see in music videos and experience the famous 'sass walk'. 

At the end of every class there will be a chance to stretch. This aims to increase flexibility and strength which can benefit all styles of dance.

CHILDREN'S LAMDA
CLASSES

LAMDA accreditation- LAMDA examinations are accredited by the QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) providing both nationally and internationally recognised qualifications.

We offer children the opportunity to gain a graded certificate in performance. Lessons take place on an individual basis or in pairs. 

For the LAMDA examination, children will perform a number of scripts from memory depending on their assessed level.

LAMDA examinations are designed to equipt learners, whatever aspirations, with a range of skills which will serve them throughout life. They can:

  • Unlock imagination and creative thinking

  • Build self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Develop communication skills

  • Refine technical skills and artistry

  • To develop an appreciation for drama and literature

  • Improve standards of communication through the spoken word

  • Support the creative, social and intellectual development of an individual

  • Through examination provide a record of personal achievement

 

Uniform: Clothing that is easy to move around in. Depending on  the character, props and specific clothing may be needed.

TEEN CLASSES
IT'S NEVER TO LATE TO START!

Teens may wish to join the children's classes or the adult classes depending on their previous exeprerience, particuarly in Ballet.

 

Ballet Classes

If you wish to start ballet and take examinations we suggest that you join our childrens ballet classes as these follow the ISTD Syllabi. If you have not completed any Grades you may wish to join our Adult Ballet classes, which are an excellent way to improve posture and fitness. For the Contemporary we would suggest our Senior class which is for 11yrs +

Our Senior class is aimed at ages 11 - 16 years.

Class is aimed at ages 5 yrs upwards.
